Proposed Department Budgets will be available for public inspection once they have been presented to the Muscatine City Council. The public is welcome to attend any, or all, of the budget sessions (listed below), make notes of questions and concerns, and then present them to the Council during the Public Hearing scheduled for April 21, 2026.
All meetings will be held in the City Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall.
- Thursday, January 29 - 5:30 p.m. - General Fund Overview, Department presentations from the City Administrator, Finance, Library, and Police Department.
- Tuesday, February 3 - Approximately 6:30 p.m. (immediately following Regular City Council meeting) - Presentations from outside agencies (Greater Muscatine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GMCCI), Senior Resources, Muscatine Center for Social Action (MCSA).
- Saturday, February 7 - 8:00 a.m. - Department presentations from Public Works, Human Resources, Muscatine Art Center, Fire Department, Community Development, Water Pollution and Control Plant, Parks and Recreation.
- Tuesday, February 10 - Approximately 6:30 p.m. (immediately following Regular City Council meeting) - Review of Capital Projects, Debt Service, Road Use Tax, Tax Increment Financing, Local Option Sales Tax.
- Thursday, February 26 - 5:30 p.m. - Presentation of complete proposed budget for final review by City Council.
- Tuesday, March 3 - 5:30 p.m. - Approval of the Budget Statement to Taxpayers - Proposed Levy Rate.
- Tuesday, April 21 - 5:30 p.m. - Public Hearing and approval of Budget.
