WHSSSP Phase 6A/6B

UPDATE: DECEMBER 30, 2025

The final section of work for the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project, Phase 6A and 6B, was completed in early fall with Fulliam Avenue reopened to traffic from Iowa Avenue  up the hill to Nelson Drive. Work was completed over the the past two years on Sycamore Street from East 8th Street to West Fulliam Street, West Fulliam between Cedar Street and Iowa Avenue, East 10th Street between Iowa and Cedar, West 11th Street between Sycamore and Iowa, and in the ravine north of West Fulliam.

BACKGROUND:

Sycamore Street was closed to traffic July 5, 2023, for the start of Phase 6A/6B of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project. 

KE Flatwork of Eldridge, Iowa, was awarded the contract for Phase 6A and 6B by the Muscatine City Council in August 2023. 

The two-year project (Phase 6AB) includes underground work to separate the combined sewer with the laying of new pipe and new pavement on Sycamore from East 8th Street to just past the East 11th Street intersection. It also includes underground work and repaving on Cedar Street from East 8th Street to just past the East 9th Street intersection.
