MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Department of Public Works (DPW) has been canvassing the City of Muscatine for the past five weeks with their annual Leaf Pickup Program but that program will be coming to an end as November turns into December.
City crews are working in the final two of the eight city zones for the next two weeks (basically the northeast side of Muscatine). DPW will keep the leaf vacuums going during the first two weeks of December as long as there is not a measureable snow or the compost site has been closed for the season.
Once City crews have completed the final two zones, residents can call the Department of Public Works (263-8933) to schedule a pickup or residents can pack the leaves into a paper yard waste bag and take them out to the Compost Site at the Recycling Center and Transfer Station. However, leaf pickup is dependent on the weather.
A date for closing the Compost Site has not been announced as yet.
