MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine City Council approved the acceptance of an offer from the Iowa Department of Transportation to purchase the former IDOT maintenance facility on Lake Park Boulevard during a special city council meeting on Monday, Oct. 22.
Acquiring the facility will allow the City of Muscatine to provide better storm water, public works and police and/or fire services to the citizens of Muscatine. The facility was purchased for the appraised value of $610,000 which will be funded through the next city bond issue in May 2020.
City officials and the Iowa DOT have been in talks concerning the facility since the Iowa DOT began construction on a new facility south of Muscatine on U.S. 61.
