MUSCATINE, Iowa - The 2018 Muscatine “Turkey Trot” Fun Run/Walk will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, on the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. The event will be hosted by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department and the Muscatine Running Club.
The format the race will follow is to “Predict Your Time”. No participant will be allowed to use any kind of a timing device as they compete against each other for the closest predicted time. The actual time will be recognized as either plus or minus to the predicted time. No splits will be given.
The cross country course will be set up at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course with two starting times for the races. Participants 14-years-old and under will run a one (1) mile course that will begin at 10:00 a.m. while participants who are 15-years-old and older will run a three-mile course starting at 10:30 a.m.
Awards will be given in each age division for male and female participants who are the closest to their predicted time. Frozen turkeys will also be awarded to each of the winners in their respective division but only one (1) turkey can be won per family.
The entry fee is $15.00 if registered by Thursday, November 1. The fee increases to $20.00 on November 2, but contestants can register up to race time. Short sleeve t-shirts will be given to all registered participants. Late or day-of-race registrants are not guaranteed t-shirts on the day of the event.
There will be male and female divisions for all ages including 11-year-olds and under, 12- 14, 15-19, 20-29, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, and 60 and older.
Anyone interested in participating can register between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday at the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department, 215 Sycamore St., or from 9:30-10:30 a.m. on the day of the race at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course. Registration forms with check payment may be mailed to the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department office and can be found online at www.muscatineiowa.gov/509/Special-Events.
