[ARCHIVED] Power turned off to most of Riverside Park

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Power to Pearl City Station, the Riverview Center, the Riverside Shelter, and the Houseboat area will be turned off at 12 p.m. today (May 8) due to the rising Mississippi River. Power will remain off until further notice.


The Mississippi River is currently at 17.34 feet, is forecast to reach “moderate” flood stage (18 feet) at 1 p.m. Wednesday, and is forecast to crest at 19.1 feet Saturday morning. Flood stage is 16 feet.


Those who park in Riverside Park are urged to find other areas to park while working or visiting in Downtown Muscatine. Most of the parking area of Riverside Park will be flooded as the river level surpasses 19-feet.
