MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Flood Warning issued by the National Weather Service for Muscatine continues until further notice. At 4:15 a.m. Friday, the stage was 15.1 feet and steady. Flood stage is 16.0 feet. No flooding is occurring but moderate flooding is expected.
The current forecast calls for the Mississippi River to reach flood stage Saturday morning and continue rising to 18.6 feet Wednesday morning. At 18 feet water affects most of the Riverside Park parking lot.
The City of Muscatine advises residents go to the Flood Resources page on the City of Muscatine web site that has links to the current flood prediction by the National Weather Service as well as flood preparation procedures. The City urges residents to use caution when on or near the river as well as any tributaries as the speed of the current increases with the rise in water level.
At this time the City of Muscatine does not anticipate any disruption of services due to river flooding. City staff monitors the river stage daily and will keep the public advised.
