MUSCATINE, Iowa – A public meeting will be held on Thursday, Apr. 24, to discuss the possibility of reopening Whicher Street from Cherry to Quince. The Traffic Committee of the City of Muscatine invites residents who live on or near Whicher Street along with property owners in the area to a public meeting at 5:30 p.m. at the Whicher-Green streets intersection on April 24.

The Traffic Committee is proposing to raise the elevation, re-pave, and re-open this section of Whicher Street which is needed for detours during the 8th Street construction in 2019 as well as improved response times for emergency vehicles.

A letter to residents and property owners in the area was sent out this week informing them of the meeting.

City staff and elected officials will be at the meeting to listen to and address all comments both positive and negative. The public is invited to attend the meeting.
