[ARCHIVED] Boat with a friend this summer and save

Harbor 001

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Are you ready for some fun on the Mississippi River? Not looking forward to launching and retrieving your boat with every outing? The City of Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department has the answer for you.

The Parks and Recreation Department is celebrating the upcoming boating season with benefits that everyone can reap, and are now taking slip rentals for the 2018 season.

Boaters can receive a $50 rebate on their 2018 boat slip fee when they refer a friend who did not rent a slip in 2017. Everyone qualifies to participate in this new program regardless of whether or not they rented a slip during the 2017 boating season. All friends referred will qualify as long as they purchase a 2018 boat slip, are referred at the time of your reservation, and did not rent a slip in the 2017 boating season.

The harbor features a new long dock and gangway access with the houseboat docks replaced as needed during the spring and summer of 2017.  The harbor was dredged in the fall of 2017. A new security camera system will be added this spring along with a lockable gate for the houseboat docks.

With the brand new docking, gangway and security features at the Muscatine Municipal Boat Harbor, the time to reserve your 2018 boat slip is now. Stop in the Parks and Recreation office located in the lower level of City Hall before June 1 to take advantage of our 2018 Boat Slip Rental Rebate program. Be sure to bring your boat registration, proof of insurance, and payment with you at the time of securing your slip for the 2018 season.

The City of Muscatine operates the Municipal Board Harbor and Marina located inside Riverside Park on the Mississippi River. The harbor has 18 slips for houseboats and 64 slips for smaller pleasure and speed boats. Slips are non-covered and each is equipped with electricity and water.

The marina also features a municipal gas dock located in the channel just outside of the harbor. Both gas and diesel are available from mid-May through mid-October. Also located at the gas dock is a pump out station which is free with fuel purchase or $5.00 without fuel purchase.
