[ARCHIVED] Lane restrictions begin March 1 on Grandview Avenue

Lane Restrictions

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Traffic on Grandview Avenue will be reduced to one lane at varying locations starting Thursday, Mar. 1, as Terracon Consultants, Inc., of Bettendorf, Iowa, conducts soil borings of Grandview Avenue from Canal Street to the intersection with U.S. 61.

The lane involved in the soil boring activity will be closed with appropriate signage and flaggers working to direct traffic. The soil boring activity will move to various locations and the lane closure will move with the activity.

Work is expected to take at least two weeks according to City Engineer Jim Edgmond.

“We want drivers to be aware, to slow down, and to be careful around these areas,” Edgmond said.

The soil borings are part of the preliminary process for the Grandview Avenue Revitalization Project that will begin in 2019 and be completed in 2020. An open house to hear citizens’ opinions of what should be and what should not be included in the revitalization was held on February 8. Additional public meetings will be scheduled as the planning process continues.
