MUSCATINE, Iowa – Parking on 5th Street from Cedar to Iowa will change on Monday. The Muscatine City Council approved changing parking in those two blocks of East 5th Street from the south side to the north side at their January 18, 2018 meeting.
Department of Public Works Director Brian Stineman informed the Council that parking spaces are limited and site distances are challenged on the south side of 5th Street by the entrances to the new Kum & Go store.
“Eliminating parking on the south side and allowing parking on the north side will make parking on 5th Street the same from Cedar to Cherry Lane,” Stineman said. “The move will also increase the number of available parking spaces and improve site distances for cars exiting Kum & Go.”
Signs will be installed on Monday (Feb. 5) and the change will be in effect at that time.
