MUSCATINE, Iowa - At approximately 6:32 a.m. on Sunday, November 16, 2025, the Muscatine Joint Communications Center (MUSCOM) received a 911 call in regards to a fire inside a detached garage at 2206 Hershey Street, Muscatine.
While en route to the fire, the incident commander noticed heavy smoke and called for additional units. Fruitland Fire Department was paged as well as part of an automatic aid agreement.
Upon arrival, crews found the garage completely engulfed in flames. There was a neighboring garage, located approximately 10 feet from the main garage, that was enduring high heat and had begun to ignite. Fire crews started an aggressive attack of the fire and worked to limit heat exposure. Multiple hose lines were deployed in this effort. The residence and a garage across the alley both sustained some heat damage to vinyl siding.
There were no injuries to responders or civilians. Fire investigators were immediately on scene and are presently performing their initial investigative process. Initial reports do not indicate the cause. The initial fire loss is estimated at approximately $100,000.
Twenty fire fighters from MFD responded to the scene. The Muscatine Police Department provided support as well as a fire engine and crew from the Fruitland Fire Department as part of our automatic aid agreement.
