MUSCATINE, Iowa – The City of Muscatine will observe the Veterans Day holiday on Tuesday, November 11, with most City departments closed as the nation pauses to honor the men and women who have served in the United States Armed Forces. All offices will reopen on Wednesday, November 12.
The U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs reminds citizens that Veterans Day, originally called Armistice Day, commemorates the end of World War I hostilities at the 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month in 1918. The observance not only preserves the historical significance of that date but also honors America’s veterans for their patriotism, love of country, and willingness to serve and sacrifice for the common good.
