MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine City Council will hold a special session at 12 p.m. Wednesday, March 31, to discuss a contract to move a house on West 8th Street as part of Phase V of the West Hill Sanitary and Storm Sewer Separation Project.
The session will be held virtually through the GoToMeeting application. Information on joining the meeting and how to make a comment is listed below.
The session will also be broadcast live on the City of Muscatine YouTube channel and on Muscatine Power & Water Cable Channel 2.
The Department of Public Works purchased the house at 891 West 8th Street, with approval of Council, and is ready to relocate the house to prepare for the start of Phase V that includes reconstructing the trunk sewer line that passes under the corner of the house.
The house will be moved away from the area where a new sewer will be installed through the property. A new foundation will be construction and the house moved onto that foundation once the sewer installation is completed.
The City of Muscatine intends to restore the home on the new foundation and sell the home after the project is completed.
The special meeting was needed due to Goodwin House Moving only being available on Thursday, April 1, and Friday, April 2, to complete the move before the start of Phase V work.
