[ARCHIVED] Full depth patching of Ford Avenue begins March 29

Construction Alert (JPG)

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Full Depth Patching Project, part of the City of Muscatine 2020-2021 Pavement Management Program, will resume on Monday (March 29) as All-American Concrete, Inc., begins work on Ford Avenue from Park Avenue to Jody Drive.

Ford Avenue is one of four sections that were included in the contract awarded to All-American Concrete, Inc., at the March 18 Muscatine City Council meeting. Also scheduled for full depth patching before the end of the end of June is Logan Street from Fulliam to Cedar, Fulliam from Kindler to Devitt, and the Sterling Woods Court cul-de-sac.

The project was delayed due to the uncertainty of road use tax revenue due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The contract is an indefinite delivery, indefinite quantity contract and some sections could be delayed until the 2021-2022 Pavement Management Program if adequate funds are not available for this contract.

Flaggers will be on hand starting Monday as All-American begins saw-cutting the sections to be replaced on Ford Avenue. Pavement removal, grading, and pouring of concrete will be completed over the course of the next four weeks. Drivers are urged to obey traffic control devices, watch for flaggers, and be alert for lane restrictions and construction workers.

Two other parts of the 2020-2021 Pavement Management Program, the Asphalt Overlay Street Project and the Asphalt Overlay Alley Project, were awarded to Manatt’s Inc., at the March 18 City Council meeting. Details on those projects will be announced after a pre-construction meeting on April 5.
