MUSCATINE, Iowa - The City of Muscatine has several part time employment opportunities available including a part-time dispatcher for the Transit Division, a part-time Custodian II, and many opportunities for seasonal positions with the Parks and Recreation Department. The Transfer Station and the Muscatine Fire Department also have part-time and full-time positions available.
The Transit Division of the Department of Public Works is seeking a part-time (less than 20 hours per week) Transit Dispatcher. This position specializes in communication and administrative work performed in dispatching operation for the public transportation system (MuscaBus). Deadline for application is February 19, 2021.
The Housing Department is looking for a part-time Custodian II (26 hours per week). This is manual work in performing a variety of cleaning, custodial, and maintenance tasks in City buildings and facilities, specifically properties managed by the Housing Department including Hershey Manor.
The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is looking for a few dependable and hardworking individuals to fill seasonal positions including pool manager, lifeguard, recreation program instructor, seasonal groundskeepers, seasonal equipment operators, lead groundskeepers, on-site supervisors, golf course outside services, clubhouse supervisor, food and beverage cashier, and office clerk.
The Parks and Recreation Department seasonal job fair will take place from 10 a.m.-12 p.m., Saturday, February 20, 2021, at the Muscatine Municipal Golf Course Clubhouse. All interested individuals are invited to come out to the Golf Course to talk with current staff, review open positions, and fill out an application.
The Transfer Station is seeking a part-time, seasonal Compost Site Technician. This is a customer service, clerical position monitoring activity at the compost site. Work involves responsibility for greeting and directing customers, taking payments, and monitoring proper disposal of compost site materials.
The Transfer Station is also seeking to create a list of individuals who would be willing to serve as substitute refuse collectors. Hours will vary depending on need.
The Muscatine Fire Department is taking applications for an Office Coordinator, Ambulance Assistant, and Firefighter.
The Office Coordinator performs professional, responsible, and confidential clerical work involving the performance of delegated duties, while also providing secretarial services to the Fire Chief. This is a part time (29 hours per week) position with the Muscatine Fire Department.
The Ambulance Attendant responds to medical emergencies, non-emergency calls, and stands by at fire scenes and at community events to respond to medical emergencies. This is part-time on an on call basis, and will be called to work as needed by the department but must be available at least 24 hours per month on average.
The Muscatine Fire Department is also currently compiling a list of potential candidates to become a member of the department. This is skilled fire fighter work performed as part of the Public safety operations of the City. Work involves the performance of related emergency and non-emergency fire and medical duties in line with departmental operations, as well as maintenance of all firefighting and medical equipment, building and grounds.
