MUSCATINE, Iowa – Administrative offices for the City of Muscatine will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, to allow our employees to celebrate the holiday season with their families. City administrative offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Monday, Dec. 28.
The City of Muscatine public transit system, MuscaBus, will not operate on Thursday, Dec. 24, or Friday, Nov. 25. MuscaBus will resume their normal operations on Saturday, Dec. 26. Please remember that a mask is required to ride MuscaBus.
The Muscatine Transfer Station will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25, but will be open 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. (last load on scale at 11:45 a.m.) on Saturday, Dec. 26. The Transfer Station is also open 7 a.m.-3:30 p.m. Monday-Friday (last load on the scale at 3:15 p.m.). The Transfer Station is closed on Sundays.
The Compost Facility at the Muscatine Transfer Station closed for the season on Sunday, Dec. 6.
BULKY WASTE COLLECTION – There will be no bulky waste collection Wednesday, Dec. 23, Thursday, Dec. 24, Friday, Dec. 25, or Monday, Dec. 28. REFUSE COLLECTION - Curbside refuse and yard waste will not be collected on Thursday, Dec. 24, or on Friday, Dec. 25.
- Residents on the Thursday route will have their refuse and yard waste collected a day earlier, on Wednesday (Dec. 22), along with the normal Wednesday route collection.
- Residents on the Friday route will have their refuse and yard waste collected on Monday, Dec. 28, along with the regular Monday route collection.
- All materials for collection can be placed out for pick up after 4 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 5 a.m. on the day of collection.
RECYCLING COLLECTION - There will be no curbside recycling collection on Friday, Dec. 25.
- Residents on the Friday “B” Route will have their recycling collected on Saturday, Dec. 26.
- All materials for collection can be placed out for pick up after 4 p.m. the day before collection and no later than 5 a.m. on the day of collection.

Muscatine Art Center will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. The Art Center will resume regular hours Saturday, Dec. 26. The Art Center is open 10 a.m.-4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday except Thursday 10 a.m.-7 p.m., and 1-4 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday. Please remember that a mask is required inside the Art Center.
Muscatine Fire Department administrative offices closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. Stations will be staffed. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Dec. 28.
Muscatine Police Department administrative offices closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. Patrol and station masters will be on duty. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Dec. 28.
Musser Public Library and HNI Community Center will be closed on Friday, Dec. 25, and will resume regular hours Saturday, Dec. 26. The facility is open 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday-Friday, 10 a.m.-2 p.m. on Saturday, and 1-3 p.m. on Sunday. Please remember that a mask is required inside the facility.
The Parking Division of the Department of Finance and Records will operate under weekend/holiday regulations.
Department of Parks and Recreation administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. Parks and Recreation administrative offices are currently closed to the public. If you have questions concerning Parks and Recreation programming or facility rentals, please call 563-263-0241 and leave a message, or email parksoffice@muscatineiowa.gov. A staff member will respond as quickly as possible.
The Muscatine Dog Park, Muscatine Pollinator Park, all City of Muscatine parks, and the Muscatine Trail System are open and available for public use. Citizens are urged to follow CDC guidelines of social distancing, wearing a mask, and personal hygiene while enjoying City of Muscatine recreational opportunities.
The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course is now closed for the season. The Clubhouse and Pro Shop will be closed Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. Both will resume normal hours on Saturday, Dec. 26. The Clubhouse and Pro Shop are open 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. on Saturday. Sunday and Monday are by appointment only. Play on the simulator and golf lessons can be made by calling 563-263-4735.
Department of Public Works administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. Operations in the 10 divisions within Public Works will also be suspended Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. If you need assistance, call 563-263-8933 and leave a message. A member of the on-call staff will respond as soon as possible. The administrative offices will resume normal hours on Monday, Dec. 28. Normal division operations will also resume on Monday, Dec. 28.
Water and Resource Recovery Facility (formerly the Water Pollution Control Plant) administrative offices will be closed on Thursday, Dec. 24, and Friday, Dec. 25. The administrative offices and the Laboratory will resume normal operations on Monday, Dec. 28.
