[ARCHIVED] Broadway and 8th intersection to be closed for construction

MUSCATINE, Iowa – The intersection of Broadway and West 8th streets will be closed to traffic starting Monday, September 28, and with it will be a change in the detour route for Phase 4C of the West Hill Sanitary & Storm Sewer Separation Project.

 

K.E. Flatwork, Inc., (KEF) will begin removing pavement in the intersection as soon as the traffic control changes are implemented. The final stage of Phase 4C will continue later next week with the underground work in the intersection.

 

KEF has completed sanitary sewer, storm sewer, and water main construction on Roscoe Avenue and Maiden Lane. Work on pavement restoration will begin once water main testing and connection of water services has been completed.

 

Revised West Hill SSSP Phase 4C Detour (JPG)The detour around the West Hill Sanitary & Storm Sewer Separation Project construction will be moved Monday. The detour currently used 7th Street as the detour around the construction but that will change to 5th Street on September 28.

 

 The new detour for West 8th Street traffic will be south on Iowa to West 5th Street, west to Cherry Street, south to 4th Street, and west to Lucas before reconnecting to West 8th Street.

 

Local traffic only will be permitted on West 8th Street from Iowa Avenue to just east of Roscoe Avenue, and on West 8th Street from Lucas to Climer.

 

Substantial completion date for Phase 4C is November 13, 2020, weather permitting.

 

All dates are tentative and dependent on weather conditions or other unforeseen circumstances.

 

Drivers are urged to use caution when proceeding in or around construction areas and to find alternate routes of travel when possible.
