MUSCATINE, Iowa – The east side of the 2nd Street intersection with Cedar Street will be closed to traffic, and parking will not be allowed in the 200 block of East 2nd Street next week as work on the 2nd Street Streetscape Project closes in on the end date for 2020 construction.
Eastern Iowa Landscaping will be repairing and cleaning up the brick crosswalk on the east side of the Cedar and East 2nd Street intersection next week which will necessitate the closure of East 2nd Street from Tuesday, Sept. 8, through Friday, Sept. 11. At the same time, KE Flatworks, Inc., will be repairing and cleaning up the brick crosswalk on the west side of the Cedar and East 2nd Street intersection.
Access to the businesses in the 300 block of East 2nd Street will be available from the Walnut Street intersection with a turnaround area located near the closed intersection as the repair work proceeds.
There will be no on-street parking on either side of the 200 block of East 2nd Street starting Tuesday, Sept.8, but the east bound lane will remain open. The west bound lane will remain closed as KE Flatwork, Inc., and Eastern Iowa Landscaping complete full-depth patching in the driving lanes and the brickwork in the north side sidewalk.
All work is tentatively scheduled to be completed by the end of the day on Friday, Sept. 11, but may be delayed due to the weather or unforeseen circumstances. Drivers are urged to use caution, pay attention to traffic control devices and the possibility of flaggers being present, and to find alternate routes when possible.
