[ARCHIVED] Adolescent anglers can "Go Fish" for prizes this September

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Adolescent anglers are encouraged to “Go Fish” throughout the month of September in the inaugural Virtual Fishing Derby hosted by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department.


Participants may cast their line as many times as they wish into their favorite natural fishing area and submit a picture of each catch by email for a chance to win a variety of prizes.


Interested registrants only need to sign up for this program once for unlimited entries into their age division’s prize drawing. The Virtual Fishing Derby age categories are 4-7 years, 8-11 years and 12-15 years. Participate by submitting a picture of each catch to the Parks and Recreation Department by email at parksoffice@muscatineiowa.gov.


Fishing derby graphic (JPG)Those interested can register for the Virtual Fishing Derby in-person at the Parks and Recreation Department office located in the lower level of City Hall. You can also register over the phone at (563) 263-0241, or online. The one-time entry fee is $5.00 per participant with the registration deadline set for 5 p.m., Monday, September 28, 2020.


Proceeds from the Virtual Fishing Derby will benefit Youth Sports and Special Events sponsored by the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department.
