MUSCATINE, Iowa – Lane restrictions on East 2nd Street from the intersection with Iowa 92 to the intersection of 5th Street and Park Avenue have been removed, for now, according to City of Muscatine Assistant Engineer Pat Lynch.
“Since this is a State funded project on a State route, let by the State, and ultimately audited by the State, the contractor must follow all of the State guidelines for the project,” Lynch said. “The contractor did not make all of the required notifications prior to setting up the traffic control devices.”
The traffic control devices were removed Wednesday (Aug. 26) as the contractor works on completing Iowa Department of Transportation (IDOT) notification requirements. Once that has been accomplished, the traffic control devices will be re-installed and work on the Park Avenue 4-to-3 Lane Conversion Project will begin.
The re installation of the traffic control devices could occur as early as next week. The actual time period will be announced at least 48 hours before the reinstallation occurs.
