The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is offering Smart Start Basketball for 3 and 4 year olds. Smart Start Basketball teaches children the basic motor skills necessary to play organized basketball while they work one-on-one and spend quality time with their parents. The program focuses on teaching children and their parents skills in dribbling/ball handling, passing/catching, shooting and running/agility without the threat of competition or the fear of getting hurt. Parent participation is required for this program.
Smart Start Basketball is held once a week for four weeks on Sundays, November 4 – December 2 with no class on November 25. Classes are held at Central Middle School in the gymnasium. There are two times available: 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm, or 3:00 pm to 3:45 pm.
The registration fee for Smart Start Basketball is $20.00 for residents and $25.00 for non-residents. A T-shirt is included. The deadline for registration will be Thursday, November 1 at 5:00 pm.
