MUSCATINE, Iowa – The Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department is committed to ensuring the safety and well-being of our patrons. Following the recommendations from the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), modifications to activities and facilities are being released to encourage social distancing and mitigate the spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Existing reservations at the Riverview Center, Pearl City Station, and park shelters between the dates of March 17 through April 16 will be cancelled for groups larger than 10 (ten) people. For reservation requests outside these dates, please contact the Parks and Recreation Department office.

The Muscatine Municipal Golf Course will remain open to the public at this time, but the clubhouse will be closed for dine-in service. Patrons can purchase food and drink and take them outside. The Parks and Recreation Department is carefully monitoring the facility and will continue operations as long as the staff is able to meet CDC and government protocols. Kent Stein Park and the Muscatine Soccer Complex will postpone opening to the public until April 16.

The Muscatine Dog Park and outdoor recreation areas will remain open to the public. As these activities are considered to be individual in nature, the Department encourages the use of outdoor areas while following CDC guidelines for social distancing and limiting non-essential interpersonal contact.

The remainder of spring indoor recreation programs and special events will be cancelled. The final week of Adult Volleyball league games and Gymnastics Session D scheduled for March 23-25 will be cancelled due to Muscatine Community School District facility closures. The final session of Gymnastics Session E and the Annual Easter Egg Hunt scheduled for April 4 will be cancelled in accordance with recommendations to minimize social gatherings.

The Parks and Recreation Department will continue to monitor and evaluate the situation as more information becomes available, and will announce any further changes and updates as they are warranted.

The Parks and Recreation office and the Greenwood Cemetery office will remain open to the public at this time.

For more information and with questions, please contact the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department office by phone at (563) 263-0241 or via email at parksoffice@muscatineiowa.gov.
