[ARCHIVED] Spot Shot Basketball Competition

The Iowa Park and Recreation Association and the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department are co-hosting the annual IPRA youth basketball “Spot Shot” contest on Saturday, February 25 at the West Middle School Small Gym. The event will begin at 9 am. The fee for the program is $6 per child.

The IPRA “Spot Shot” contest has seven separate age/gender categories for competition: 7, 8, 9, 10, 11, 12 and 13 years of age. Age is determined as of the date of the local competition. Boys and girls have 60 seconds to dribble from half court and shoot from seven different locations from the floor. Separate distances are used for each group. Bonus points are awarded for shooting once or twice at all of the spots. Two rounds are shot and the points from both rounds are totaled together for the total.

The top two participants in each age category advance to the state competition to be held Saturday, March 17, 2012 in the Grinnell Recreation and Athletic Center at Grinnell.

Pre-registration is required. You may register at the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department in the lower level of City Hall, 215 Sycamore, by phone with credit card, or online at http://www.muscatineiowa.gov. The registration deadline for Spot Shot is Thursday, February 23 at 5:00 pm.

If you have any questions please call the Muscatine Parks and Recreation Department at 563-263-0241.
