[ARCHIVED] Leaf collection in Zone 6; Compost Facility still open

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Leaf collection efforts by Department of Public Works (DPW) crews is wrapping up with just two zones remaining in the third, and final, round of collection efforts. Meanwhile, Solid Waste Collections and Drainage Manager David Popp has announced that the Compost Facility at the Muscatine Transfer Station will remain open as long as the weather permits.


The Compost Facility will continue with its current schedule that has the facility closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays but open the rest of the week. Compost Facility hours of operation are 12-6 p.m. on Sunday, Monday, Thursday, and Friday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturdays. Additional closures may occur due to the weather.


City crews have moved into Zone 6 in their leaf collection efforts and are expected to complete canvasing that zone and complete Zone 7 before the end of the week.  (see map).
