MUSCATINE, Iowa – The large dog enclosure at the Muscatine Dog Park will reopen on Friday (Dec. 6) after crews from the Parks and Recreation Department installed an additional concrete pad inside the enclosure. The small dog enclosure and the shy and timid dog enclosure will also have temporary closures as concrete pads are added.
In addition to the concrete pads, Parks and Recreation staff will also be installing additional benches inside each enclosure.
“We ask for the publics patience as we install these improvements to the dog park,” Kelsie Stafford, Parks and Recreation Program Supervisor, said. “These improvements will help to make these off-leash areas even better for the dogs and their companions.”
Stafford also noted that annual Dog Park passes for the 2020 calendar year are now available in the Parks and Recreation Department at Muscatine City Hall. The cost is $15.00 per dog per household. Stafford added that 446 Dog Park passes were purchased in 2019.
City residents who want to utilize the Dog Park must purchase a Dog Park pass and have their canine registered with the City of Muscatine. A daily pass can be purchased for $5.00 per dog per household.
