[ARCHIVED] City offices closed November 11, no refuse, recycling collection

MUSCATINE, Iowa – Administrative offices at Muscatine City Hall will be closed on Monday, Nov. 11, in observance of Veterans Day. There will be no curbside refuse, yard waste, or recycling collection on Monday.


The City of Muscatine urges every resident to take the time, not only on this day but every day of the year, to thank veterans and active duty personnel for their service.


Muscatine Transit (MuscaBus) will be running normal routes and will offer free rides to veterans with a military ID or other identification that indicates veteran status.


The Muscatine Transfer Station along with the Compost Facility will be closed on Monday.


There will be no curbside refuse or recycling collection on Monday. Residents on the Monday route will have their refuse collected on Tuesday along with residents on the Tuesday route. Recycling collection will run one day late during the week (Monday collection on Tuesday, Tuesday on Wednesday, etc.).

Additional office closures and schedule changes for Monday, Nov. 11, include:


Muscatine Art Center is normally closed to the public on Monday. Administrative offices will also be closed on Monday.


Muscatine Municipal Golf Course will have normal operating hours (sunrise to sunset) dependent on the weather.


Muscatine Fire Department administrative offices closed. Stations will be staffed.


Muscatine Police Department administrative offices closed. Patrol and station masters on duty.


Musser Public Library and HNI Community Center will be open normal hours on Monday (10 a.m. to 9 p.m.).


Parking will operate under weekend/holiday regulations.


Parks and Recreation administrative offices closed with normal operations at most recreational centers.


Public Works administrative offices will be closed and will not operate the Leaf Pickup Program.


Water and Resource Recovery Facility administrative offices will be closed.
