MUSCATINE, Iowa – Muscatine County is currently in the process of updating the Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan according to Brian Wright, director of Muscatine County Emergency Management.
As part of the process, members of the public are invited to attend either of the following meetings: 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, at the West Liberty Public Library, 400 North Spencer Street, West Liberty, Iowa; or, 4:30 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 17, 2019, in Room 62 of Larson Hall at Muscatine Community College (Muscatine Access Nine Video Studio), 152 Colorado Street, Muscatine, Iowa.
These meetings offer the public a chance to learn more about the update process for the plan, to ask questions about the kinds of hazards and mitigation strategies it might include, and to provide input that can be used in the planning process.
Updating the plan enables jurisdictions within Muscatine County to remain eligible for certain pre-disaster project funds through the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).
