[ARCHIVED] Refuse, recycling collection schedule changed for July 4 holiday

MUSCATINE, Iowa – City of Muscatine offices will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019, for Independence Day, and there will be no refuse or recycling collection on that day. There has also been a change in the date for the first city council meeting of July.


The Muscatine City Council was scheduled for a regular council session on Thursday, July 4, 2019, but that meeting has been moved up one day and will be held at 7 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2019, in the Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall.


Administrative offices at Muscatine City Hall will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019, for Independence Day. City administrative offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Friday, July 5, 2019. The Muscatine Fire Department and Muscatine Police Department will be staffed but administrative offices will be closed.


The Muscatine Transfer Station along with the Compost Site will be closed on Thursday, July 4, 2019, and will reopen for normal hours on Friday, July 5, 2019.


  • REFUSE COLLECTION - There will be no curbside refuse collection on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Residents on the Thursday route will have their refuse collected on Friday (July 5, 2019), along with residents on the normal Friday route.


  • RECYCLING COLLECTION - There will be no curbside recycling collection on Thursday, July 4, 2019. Curbside recycling collection on the Week “A” route will be pushed back one day with the Thursday route picked up on Friday, July 5, 2019, and he Friday route on Saturday, July 6, 2019.
