MUSCATINE, Iowa –The Muscatine City Council will have a rather light agenda for their first meeting of December, scheduled for 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, in the City Council Chambers at Muscatine City Hall.

Council members will be accepting completed work on three projects during the meeting including the Muscatine Indoor Sports Complex Project, the Lake Park Boulevard Over Mad Creek Bridge Deck Overlay Project, and the Mulberry Avenue Sidewalk Reconstruction Project.

The meeting will include departmental updates from Muscatine Community Development Director Jodi Royal-Goodwin and Public Works Director Brian Stineman, who will brief the Council on recent accomplishments and plans for the upcoming year.

At the start of the meeting, Muscatine Mayor Brad Bark will read a proclamation declaring December 16 as a day in Muscatine recognizing the 40th Anniversary Muscatine Sister Cities and Citizen Diplomacy. Mayor Bark will also present Police Department Merit Awards to Assistant Police Chief Steve Snider and co-responder Amy Gold.

The Council will consider approving the contract with Valley Commercial Construction for improvements to the Riverview Center in Riverside Park. The $332,500 project includes the removal and replacement of the doors, windows and deck to include the stairs and electricity for the lights under the deck at the Riverview Center located on the Muscatine Riverfront.

Public Participation Encouraged

All City Council meetings are open to the public, providing residents an opportunity to observe and participate in local government decision-making.

Residents may attend in person at Muscatine City Hall, 215 Sycamore Street, or watch the meeting live on Civic-TV (MPW Channel 2) or the City of Muscatine YouTube channel.

Meeting agendas and supporting documents are posted at least 24 hours in advance on the City’s website under Agenda & Minutes.
