MUSCATINE, Iowa - The Muscatine Police Department received multiple reports of a female driving through Muscatine shooting at people at approximately 3:15 p.m. Sunday (Dec. 8). Officers located the suspect vehicle along Park Avenue and attempted to stop the suspect/driver. The driver refused to yield and a vehicle pursuit was initiated. The pursuit led out of Muscatine along 231st Street.
A Muscatine Police Officer involved in the pursuit, lost control of his vehicle and crashed near the Cedar River. The Officer sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The pursuit of the suspect vehicle was picked up by other outside law enforcement agencies and continued west and onto US Hwy 218. The pursuit ended when the suspect began driving the wrong way into oncoming traffic. The driver eventually hit another vehicle head on and died at scene. Both accidents are being investigated by the Iowa State Patrol.
No individuals were hurt during the shooting incidents in Muscatine and the Muscatine Police Department is continuing to investigate those reports. No other information is available at this time.
