MUSCATINE, Iowa – The City Council for the City of Muscatine, Iowa will conduct a public hearing on the proposed budget for Fiscal Year 2024-2025 (July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2025) for 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 18, 2024 in the Council Chambers on the second floor of Muscatine City Hall.
At this public hearing any resident or taxpayer may present objections to, or arguments in favor of, any part of the proposed budget.
The proposed total property tax levy rate for the 2024/2025 budget is $15.67219 per $1,000 of valuation, which is the same rate as the current year (2023/2024) tax rate. The proposed property tax rate and tax dollars generated will continue to fund the current services provided to the City’s residents.
The proposed budget for 2024/2025 totals $82,112,587. This includes $46,626,847 in governmental funds expenditures and $35,485,740 in business-type/enterprise funds expenditures. Of the total proposed budget, $20,393,100 is for capital projects in both governmental and business-type funds.
