MUSCATINE, Iowa – Members of the Muscatine Police Department are mourning the loss of K-9 Officer Dexter. Dex joined the department in March of 2022 and excelled at his duties while working beside his handler Officer Matt Wilkinson.
Dex began to develop medical issues approximately one month ago and spent the last several weeks under doctors’ care trying to recover. Unfortunately, Dex lost his medical battle and was laid to rest at 4 p.m. Thursday (February 8). Dex’s family, Officer Wilkinson and his wife, were by his side until the end.
Dex’s energy and enthusiasm for the job will be greatly missed.
