MUSCATINE, Iowa - The Muscatine County Public Health (MCPH) Department’s phase1B vaccination plan is based on an extremely limited allocation of vaccines. Plans are subject to change based on vaccines assigned and received.
MCPH Department’s plan to distribute the initial 300 doses to 1B (people aged 65 + and a small group of tier 1 workforce) will be as follows. Half of the doses will be administered to senior living apartment buildings in Muscatine County through the partnership of pharmacies. The other half of the doses will be administered to first responders in Muscatine County (firefighters, all law enforcement with cities and county, & child welfare social workers). We will be in direct contact with the eligible populations to schedule appointments.
MCPH Department’s plan to distribute the additional 400 doses to 1B (people aged 65 + and tier 1 workforce) will be as follows. MCPH will work collaboratively with approved vaccine providers to administer to patients aged 65 + and begin dispensing to school districts and childcare providers. Approved vaccine providers will contact their patients directly and MCPH will be in direct contact with school administration and childcare provider businesses to set up their clinics when the vaccine is available.
MCPH Department is continuing to vaccinate Phase 1A target populations with 2nd doses while beginning Phase 1B initial doses. Our commitment to Muscatine County is that we will vaccinate the targeted populations as guided by the Iowa Department of Public Health with the vaccine we are provided.
Please know that each of you matters to us. Our local public health department is continuing to do our best to serve our county with daily essential public health services and COVID-19 mass vaccine clinics. With patience and grace, we will and can make it through this together.
