The Muscatine Police Department makes use of various in-house training instructors for much of its In-Service or continuing educational needs. Many of the Department members are certified to instruct in at least 1 area and in some cases, several areas. Some areas require annual or semi-annual certifications and in most of those areas the Department maintains its own set of instructors.
Most of those instructors are required, by either law or policy, to re-certify on a regular basis. In some cases the instructors are required to travel to the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in Des Moines, the Mobile Team Training Unit in Moline or a number of other locations in and around the State of Iowa. The Department realizes the benefits of have certified instructors within its ranks and works hard to ensure their certifications are maintained.
