The Muscatine Police Department, in partnership with Muscatine Community College, offers high school students the opportunity to learn more about a career in law enforcement through their Junior Police Academy. The training academy is a community relations program designed to educate and give young adults a realistic view of what police do on a day to day basis.
The Junior Police Academy is a four-day training event held at the Muscatine Community College where students will receive hands-on lessons and activities including:
Crime Scene Investigation
The Academy is held annually in June of each year and there is no cost to attend. Lunch is provided while all high school students are eligible to apply. Space is limited and preference will be given to juniors and seniors. Those that attend will have an opportunity to earn a $500 scholarship from the Muscatine Police Officers Association and a $500 scholarship from Muscatine Community College (if they choose to continue their education at one of the Eastern Iowa Community Colleges.)
